I don't remember the last time a game had this much fun with a game with
so little direction. Minecraft is a simple game- in Survival mode you
can collect resources (mine) to hoard or build things. Resources can be combined into other things (craft).
Once the sun sets, the map is infested with monsters out to kill you.
That's it. It's like playing with blocks, or Lego's, and then zombies
try to eat you.
Nils set up a server running on his comp so we've been playing with a couple other friends in our own bizarre little world. It's not a game with levels or quests, so it's only as much fun as you make it. After a few deaths to zombies, you'll quickly realize you need shelter. My hole in the wall turned into a mountainside fortress over a couple of days. I got bored (for now), so now I'm building the World Tree on an island not too far away. It might just be an over-sized tree-house in the end, but that's ok because no matter what, it's going to be awesome.
One of the many, many things you can modify is your skin, and I, being who I am, immediately decided my avatar needed a sundress. There are a lot of examples of skins out there- both good and bad. I've seen some good ones on the Minecraft sub-Reddit, like this one I saw recently, and on Miners Need Cool Shoes.
I used Miners Need Cool Shoes' skin editor and edited this Miner Girl until I ended up with the girl on the left. She has a white and yellow flower on the back of her head.
If you'd like to use her, feel free to use her by saving this file and uploading in your profile page.
She's pretty cute, but not exactly what I want. I'll edit her soon and post v2 :)
